What to know A step in cron is not a timer. */7 is shorthand for the list 0,7,14,…,56: the values in 0-59 that are multiples of 7. Every hour the same list is used again, so any step that does not divide 60 evenly leaves a short gap at the end of the hour.
Steps that divide 60 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30) run evenly. For hours, steps that divide 24 (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12) are the even ones.
